You can deposit all or part of your paycheck or government benefit payments onto your card. All you have to do is log in to your Walmart MoneyCard account and set up direct deposit. We will show you how to do that below.

Here’s is how the Walmart MoneyCard Direct Deposit process works:

Step 1

Ask your payroll or benefits office if they offer direct deposit.

How to get the Walmart MoneyCard Account Number and Routing Number

As shown in “Step 2” above, an important part of successfully setting up Direct Deposit to your MoneyCard account is getting your MoneyCard account number and routing number to provide to your employer, tax refund preparer or government agency.

This is where most cardholders get stuck in the process because they are not sure where to find that information. Here’s how:

Every prepaid debit card has an issuing bank. Even though it’s a prepaid debit card, a financial institution issued that card.

Therefore, since the card was issued by a bank, there is an account number for each prepaid card and there is a routing number for the issuing bank.

This applies to the Walmart MoneyCard.

The issuing bank for the Walmart MoneyCard is Green Dot Bank.

Here’s how to get your account number and routing number.

There are two ways you can get your MoneyCard routing number and account number:

Option 1 – Log into your MoneyCard account

If you have online access to your Walmart MoneyCard, log in and look for Direct Deposit in the menu.

This is where you will find the routing and account numbers for your MoneyCard.

Option 2 – Call the Direct Deposit Hotline

Another way to get the account number and routing number for your MoneyCard is to call the MoneyCard Direct Deposit Hotline at 1- (866) 871-2416.

The auto-attendant will provide you with options.

Press “1” to get your Direct Deposit information.

You will then be asked to enter your 16 digit Walmart MoneyCard number.

Once you successfully enter your card number, follow the auto-attendant instructions to obtain your MoneyCard account number and routing number.

Make sure you have a pen and paper ready to write down this information.

Option 3 – Get your Direct Deposit Information via Text

The third option to get the account number and routing number for your MoneyCard is to Text DD to 37267 as shown in the image below. Carrier message and data rates apply.

How ASAP Direct Deposit Works – Getting your Paycheck Faster

As explained above, the MoneyCard has a feature called “ASAP Direct Deposit” as shown in the image below.

With ASAP direct deposit, you can get your paycheck up to two days faster.

Here’s how it works:

Once you set up a direct deposit to your MoneyCard, Walmart promises that you can get your pay up to 2 days before payday or your government benefits up to 4 days before benefits day.

However, the timing depends on deposit verification and when Walmart MoneyCard gets notice from your employer or benefits provider and may vary from pay period to pay period.

Nonetheless, Walmart MoneyCard promises that when they receive advance notice of your pay or government benefits or tax refunds, you’ll get it.

In other words, they will not wait until payday to make your deposit available to you.

Once they receive advance notice of the incoming transfer from your employer, government agency or the IRS for tax refunds, they will make the money available to you in your account right away.

ACH sends electronic information about your direct deposit on the same day it receives it from your employer.

However, your bank then determines when to post the deposit to your account.
